Emmanuel. There are many, many different tricks, but you need to find the ones that work for you. The most important thing is to relax your model/s.

The light situation all depends on what you are after. If I am doing silhouetting then always bounce a light off the background and have 1 or 2 lights in pointing away from the model to still give light but not directly. For moody images have one pointing away and one pointing towards the models. for bright images keep them directed onto the models but watch for shadows.

Try some dummy shots on another subject before the models arrive as this will cut down on boredom time on the model. And you don't want dull expressions on the model so have some music playing that suits the modd of the image.

Hope this helps and I apologize greatly for my delay in replying to you. Things have been really crazy around here lately.

Thanks Margaret. I like showing normal human behaviour instead of soldier shots.

Thanks so much Emmanuel. I like getting the natural looks from people. I have one general rule that I tell all my models. Don't look at the camera unless I say so...it seems to keep them natural the most.

Thanks Den. There was a signing table nearby with a white tablecloth. It seemed to act as a reflector from that low angle. It worked well.

The lighting here is magic Judi. It's as though you used a reflector. The B/W rendition is marvellous.

Thanks Debarshi. It is weird....I had this image and title picked out before this even happened. And when I uploaded it, I had a chuckle to myself...at the connection between it all.
