Ursula, thank you very much for your comment - the color straight out of my 300D is better than my former Canon G1, but in more than 90% I have to push colors with PS (soft light or multiply blended layers or saturation correction).

This is a dreamlike quality..and picture...exactly what I wish my winter shots would look like.Is there a big difference to the original?Do you have the colour problems with this canon too? Regards,Ursula

as always excelent work on the dynamic range. As much as I like the lower part with the snow and water, I somehow miss something at the top. The sun is cut off a little. I wish there was more at the top.

Lily, you are right with your remark. This lens has an extreme DOF, I knelt for this shot and had the nearby snow in the lower left corner. FOV @ 10 mm is almost 100?, you see your feet looking through the viewfinder...

Even caught the twinkles on the snow. The cold creek water with its ripples, stones on bottom, edge of snow bank, shadows and tones on right side, all very beautiful. I say this with some hesitation but in the lower left side, the snow looks slightly distorted on my monitor. Are my eyes playing a trick on me or is this a by-product of the wide angle lens?

I love the detail you have caught in the stream. Very nice balance in the exposure as this is not an easy a shot to expose for

Another gorgeous landscape, Carsten - I can almost feel the cool, crisp air in my lungs! Since it was mentioned by our friend Toni, I have to say I agree with her about the lens flare. I love the bright sun at the top and the rays that come from it, but I find the little oval a bit distracting - maybe because it's sort of 'disconnected'? Regardless, with or without this is an amazing photo!

I can see the struggle in that decision...I tried looking at this with and without the sun at the top and found I preferred the composition with the sun showing, as you have it. The spot is part of that natural flow of light, which I can see is interrupted on removal. I can now understand why it is the best here. Thanks...sign me,
Your understudy, Antonia

Toni, to include the sun spot or not was a difficult question, indeed. I tried it without but was unhappy, and decided to include the sun flare. As the person who made the shot I am biased, of course. The feelings you have at the moment you make the shot are in your mind when you work it out, I think.

I don't mind the elephant actually :) I think it added to the image with the inclusion of the sun.

I feel as if I'm being tested today. This is the second image I've come across where there is an elephant in the room and no one is mentioning it...lol. It's the lens flare spot. I love the image...the creek, snow and shadows are gorgeous. But I can't get past the spot and the exposure on the upper right. It feels so much like I'm sticking my neck out to say this, as so many have commented as if this is no issue. So perhaps its ignorance on my part. However, what are my comments worth, if not honest. Hugs. Antonia
