I love your idea of over sharpening... it works really well here... and there's something about subtle differences in small things for instance, locks :)

First of all I like this a lot. I like these kind images a lot and I am right now doing a serie of them (seen my "Locked" one? ... very similar).
Back to your photo I must say that to me you oversharpened IMO blowing out many details on the pattern of the door. THat said this remain a very nicely composed photo. Congrats.

Patina is what time, the sun, the wind and use of people add to the surface: painted surfaces for example. Is the same word in swedish and english!
Very common for painters....

The sun bleached colours look great, really well worn and aged by the weather. I also like the message the heavy unopened lock gives, to me it says something was locked away a long time ago and shouldn't be released! The detail in the cracking pait is also superb.
