About I was playing around on the pc with this image when my daughter saw this effect and she loved it. So as my gift to her, I left it. It might not be everyones cup of tea but I found it interesting that as a child she found this result to be appealing to herself. Especially considering the incredible imagination that she has, she could've gone for something completely different. I also felt the colour matched the look in her eyes. LOL!!

Aww James you are very sweet to me. You asked for earthy tones, so I have attached another one that I had done. See if this is more to your liking.

You are so right Toni. Kids have a knack for things like that. I personally liked this image but was concerned it would be to red especially with that bleed. But, it seems to have been accepted well. So I would suggest to go ahead and upload your image that you daughter liked. You never know, it just may be an award winner.

It is definitely my cup of tea. Interesting that this just happened in my household on the last portrait of Savannah I posted. Sarah liked a color effect I tried that was very orange and so I saved it. I thought about putting it up in her honor so now I will! Often I get my girls opinions on things...they have an uncanny way of seeing things well I think. They will often nail something that I'm wondering whether others will notice. It's like when they say "Mom, you have wrinkles around your eyes!" They don't hold back...hahahahaha. Anyway, I think your daughter nailed this one. I love the pose and expression. It reminds me of an oil painting at a museum. Antonia

Dottie...I think we all have the mind of a child...but it is how we use it that determines whether we are adults or not.

The engaging thing to me about this portrait is not the toning, but her resolute gaze, as if to say "Look quick, because I'm not going staying like this for long."

Judi, your daughter has good taste as well as a good imagination. LOL

I like the effect you have created in this image, especially the colour,as this sets it aside from the standard portrait. I also like the lighting, as this focuses the eye onto the face, which is where you want the focus to be.

A great image well thought out.

Your friend brian.

It is very much 'my cup of tea' it is a wonderful image, I love the colouring, the expression, angle everything, I think it is stunning and that she is beautiful. Now then I have just got up and not even got downstairs yet, so I am off to get a 'cup of tea', but glad I spotted this before I switched off

Yes, you are right. I actually came up with many different versions. But this is what she wanted. I was a little concerned over the bleed of the hue, but it seems to have been taken well.

Judi, a great portrait to start with, perfect lighting and could not have asked for a better pose! You are right, the light would be a matter of personal taste and it is interesting to see what children chose, most are not too effected yet in their flexibility. With this one, you could really come up with a wide range of acceptable tones, CAry
