David, I don't use the tripod ALL the time, especially where the kids are concerned. I do try to use it for close up type shots though. I love getting the detail in the eyes and my head are not steady AT ALL!!
I also feel that the tripod can be very limiting, but sometimes it does come in handy. Usually after a few shots I end up pulling it off and trying more experimental kind of stuff. I just don't have steady hands and it has really helped in certain situations, esepcially where I am using a slow shutter!

I didn't recognize it as a tripod. The bright lines make the eye really sparkle. I like seeing somethign reflected in the eye. Most of the time it makes the eye look more interesting.
Do you shoot a lot with tripod? I never use a tripod except when I really have to. I feel so limited and crippled with it. As if someone would hold me and prevent me from moving. :)

you are getting better and better! The way you made the eyes look is so cool. I just love the overall look and extreme contrast and in the center of the attention those beautiful eyes. The softness works very good, too. Excelent work.

Thank you Carolyn!! This is actually my son, Hayden. I always forget to specify that when I post my photos. He gets mistaken for a girl a lot because he is sooooooo pretty ;o)
