About I took this shot whilst standing on the Town Bridge at Weymouth, just 1 km or so from where I grew up as a boy. One day, (having been given my dad's old fishing rod that he's had for years, and told not to use it in the harbour!!), I thought I'd just go and try it out?

So I stood on one side of the river, by the bridge, and cast my line? It sailed right across the other side and the hook got caught on a rope. So I walked over the bridge to free and, as I did, a boat came along, caught the line with its mast, and took the whole rod, reel and tackle out to sea, never to be seen again.

Was my rear end ever sore!!

Best regards to all,

Chris

Well, Chris, your title was enough to reel me in - not that I need to be persuaded to look at your shots. This is such a colorful image and story made me chuckle. In this instance, "spare the ROD and spoil the child" takes on a new meaning. Glad to read your Dad's comments. -- Debby

A great shot of a familier place Chris, this is one of those that you emailed to me and which Mum has chosen. Fortuneately you are a big boy now too big to put across my knee, still your hobby of photography is much more rewarding than your fishing!! Dad

That was one lesson that you did not forget. Now days they would have had your dad in jail for child abuse. That was the best way. It didn't hurt you and was well remembered. A great story. This is quite a bustling community. Great colors. Don.

Chris
Great story and does it ever remind me of similar things that happened as a boy ;-) We have to learn the hard way.
Nice harbor shot, lots of color and very nice composition.
Good to be back, however it will be slow to start with.

Oh I am laughing so hard! Not at the image of a boy being spanked, but of today's Mr S being spanked! Catch my drift? :-))

Great, great colours Chris ... sharp details, very very busy scene, plenty for the eyes to take in and enjoy.

Great reflection of the boat in the foreground - did you take a close-up of that? Hmmm ... why not? :-))

The bird ... dropped in naturally to say "Hi!" or dropped in Spracklen style? :-))

Have a great evening Mr S!

And you've been known as "Smarty Pants" ever since Eh Chris? Great shot as ever from you with fabulous vibrant colours. I see the railway lines are still running alongside the harbour.
All the best.
