Thanks, melanie! Im still trying to figure out this program...its really bothering me! I had an older version of photoshop that had a really convenient burn tool, and borders. Corrie, I don't use Photo Shop, I use Paint Shop Pro. I'm not sure how similar the functions are, but what I did was this....
First I enhanced the color saturation a little, then I used the unsharp mask (which I noticed works better than just sharpening it normally), the I duplicated the layer twice making the top layer a "burn" layer, and the middle layer a "dodge" layer. The burn layer brings out more detail and the dodge layer keeps it from getting too dark, I kept the opacity to about 5. As for the border, in PSP, you just go to the image menu and click "add border"!
I have never used Photo Shop, sorry I can't be of more help!

Thanks melanie... I HAVE photoshop, but the sharpening tool always kind of distorts the image when i use it...what exactly did you do?(i have cs, i just got it this christmas...)Also, how did you get the thin border on it? (lol..i havnt been able to figure ANY of this stuff out yet..Until last year i was darkroom only!!)Thanks!

Here's the color version, I just added a little contrast and sharpening to see if it gave it a more clear look.

I don't know if it's any BETTER in B&W, but I do like it! I played with it a bit in PSP and this is what I came up with...

Melanie, Youre right, it is out of focus... (he was way too close to me for me to be taking it...but the expression was so cute i just took it anyway.)I do see the grain around his mouth and eye, im not sure why its there(its not on the print) Sometimes when i scan negatives ill get a weird spot here and there, i need to calibrate the scanner again i think. I tried it in black and white but it didnt look as...well...i dont know...you tell me what you think!!

converted to black and white.... |

This is adorable, I am curious what it might look like in B&W (just an idea). I'm not sure if it's because it's a little out of focus but there is some sort of grain I see in his eyes and mouth... do you see it too, or is it just me?
