About This scene has not been altered. The mountians were in shadow and were very blue. This sand is so white but in the early morning it has great texture and some color from the warm light. I am busy right now but will get to comments at a later date. Thanks Don.

I've just been having a little prowl around your portfoilo...I really love this. The textures in the sand against the blue of the mountains and the sky is something else,
Chris.

Well you had better conditions at White Sands than I did when I visited in July 2003. By the time they opened the gates, the sun was already higher than I wanted. However. it's one of those places where one could go to almost everyday and have fun getting the "best" shot. This is a nice photo.

I thought it was snow!! But I think it's not very common in Alamogordo (BTW, my friend Josh is from Albuquerque, he's living in Spain for some years now).
I like everything in this picture, but the 3D feeling is gorgeus!
Congrats for your more than deserved "Photo of the Day"!!
Kindest regards from Seville!

Hi Don
This series of yours is just getting better and better! This must be my favourite one so far - unless of course you are still going to come up with the "trump card"?

Awesome work Don - but I am sure you know it too. Congrats!

Hi Don

When I saw the thumbprint I thought you had captured dwarf pine trees against the snow... so was startled to find dazzlingly white snow. All in all an intriguingly different view of the desert.

Nice composition, Don! The sand is very white, you've got the exposure right on, to get that texture.

Don: excellent picture, this plant seems a Peruvian plant that has the inflorescence more big of the world calls "Puya Raymondi". it is a plant that reaches. 12 m of height, and has a cycle of approximately 30 year-old life, it flourishes and it spreads six million seeds and it is between the 4000 and 5000 meters on the level of the sea.
I attach a pic that I found in Google

Good moring Don - I HAVE to get out to White Sands. You are making me jealous. Yhis image is nicelely composed with the two dominant eye catching plants at the "crash point". WEre the back yucca not so high I might be tempted to suggest cropping out more of the dark sky. Cheers - jb

Hi Don - fantastic perspective and colors in this landscape, the crisp shadows of the sand and the great lines of the vegetation makes a great contrast, to the "out of this world" color of the mountains.
Great shot!!!!
