I have a 2GB microdrive card - it was recommended on UF when I was looking to buy my D70. Great advice. I shoot all photos in the Nikon NEF RAW format and convert them over to the highest quality JPEG setting possible.
A 2GB card holds about 300 RAW images in my experience, even though the camera will say 180. If you shoot action you may need a faster card, but my stuff is not very fast paced...

Hi Michael, Good to have you back... The sky is a huge addition to the atmosphere and appeal of this shot, and the golden lighting is fantastic.
Two things cross my mind, though, one of which we discussed briefly yesterday, which is the middle part being a bit cluttered compared to the rest.
The second thing starts with one of the best elements in this shot, namely the rocks in front, leading the eye towards the golden tones on the hill in ghe background, as well as to the sky. This imaginary guide places the (at)tention within this photo a bit to the right, and I wonder what the visual result would be if you'd decided to crop a slight strip off the right side of the photo... (see attached)
At first I thought of squaring it, but that just doesn't do the trick, And I decided to try a more subtle approach. Wonder what you think!

I'm afraid it is a bit of both. I took a guided tour at one point, and noticed a lot of completely stripped frames - mostly rusting, just within 50 feet of the road we were on. The explaination is that when a car is irrepairable, the people just pull it off the road and leave it, where it is then cannabilized for parts, usually down to the frame. In this photo it looks a bit more organized and the cars still have most of their parts. I think some of it is parking and some of it is older cars left for parts.
Even shipping pallettes are taken apart for fence posts, so any material gradually gets reused, except for small plastic and glass containers, which are usually trash and wind up anywhere and everywhere at times.
Who knows?

michael, if i didn't know better i'd think this was southern arizona. very sonoran desert looking. i like your timing here. leaving the valley in shadow and highlighting the hills in the background. these moments are fleeting. esp. when you're trying to set up a shot. 10-15 minutes either way (+/-) would've been a totally different photo. well done!
btw, what is that in the center of the frame? a junkyard or a parking lot? oh boy, now i sound like the prototypical dumb tourist ;^)

We were getting up early to walk around and see the sunrise through our whole vacation, and it was worth it to see the sun come up over different places in Baja.
