About This isn't necessarily my individual favourite photo, but it's sold more than any other that I've taken this year (by some margin) and so I must bow to public pressure! I love the image and am particularly pleased with the light but I'm less happy with the fact that I had to crop the image - I've improved my compositional skills since I took this shot and I'm far less likely to need to crop images now. Anyway, I hope you enjoy seeing the image again. Merry Christmas!

No need to apologise for cropping the shot. There's no particular virtue in filling the frame. Of course you don't want to lose so much of the image that quality is affected... I personally often prefer a longer aspect ratio and often take panoramas with 1:2.5 or even 1:3 ratios. This is beautiful any way you cut it. In fact it makes me homesick for England, which I left 38 years ago! I particularly like way the tree trunks shade away in the mistier distance. Wonderful!

Wonderful image with all the bluebells, the tree trunks, and the fog. Since you mentioned cropping, I probably would have cropped off the dark tree trunk on the right side because it's chopped off and leaning out of the frame in order to have one of the more-vertical trees in the background near the border. Nice work.

Jaap, the PS work was limited to cropping, increasing saturation, applying a curve to increase contrast and the sharpening. This is basically the same workflow I apply to all the RAW files captured with my digial camera. When working with images captured with Fuji Velvia or Kodak E100VS with my medium format film camera I can skip the saturation increase and curves as the colours and contrast are correct straight off the film. In essence, I'm simply trying to reproduce the same effect as film.
