About
Raymond Mason's 'Forward' sculpture was unveiled in Centenary Square, Birmingham, in June 1991. Nearly 12 years later, on Thursday, 17 April 2003, it was set on fire by young vandals. This fragment managed to survive the blaze, but the sculpture itself was so badly damaged that it had to be dismantled.
Thanks, Jaap, though the scene was something of a gift, I have to say - but a gift marred by all the metal sheeting put up around the damaged sculpture, which made it difficult to get a really good angle on it.
Thanks for the comments, Ian. Getting the picture wasn't all that easy because huge metal sections had been put up all around the ruined sculpture (which was made of a kind of plastic).
Len this is great documentary, and it is still beautiful in its death throws. I suspected some balancing of the image would help, it looks some how a little flat on my monitor, but I couldn't do much. the whites there may be a pale, pale grey or something. You aren't asking for help I know.
