About Never seen anything like this before. Was sitting at my mates' house sipping on a couple of brews when we look outside and everything is bright orange. Run outside (luckily i had my camera with me) and snapped as many shots as i could before the sky returned to a normalish colour. I wish i could have got up high somewhere, it would have been amazing, but beggars cant be choosers. I also wish i had my tripod wih me, many shots came out blurred as i was shooting handheld at slow shutter speeds. The title is inspired by one of my awe struck mates who said "maybe its the second coming of christ?". More shots to come.

This one makes it as my best picture of 2004, not necessarily because it was but because it was the most beautiful thing ive seen this year. Mother nature at her best!

thanks for the comment. Yes, I know what you mean about the lack of shadow detail.. on my LCD monitor there is plenty of detail but when i get them printed it is all gone. I might have to look into some sort of calibration software, unfortunately a CRT monitor is not a solution when all my work is done on a laptop.

Well timed moody pic- unusual colours.I like to see a litle more shadow details.
Looking at your other pics; I've noticed shadows are missing details. This could be due to your monitor settings or your monitor. Especially LCDs' are prone to this.
I hope this would be helpful,
Kind regards,

Great shot Steve. The title reminds me of when I was a kid - every beautiful sunset I thought was the second coming!

Beautiful.

The clone stamp is my best friend. Ordinarily i would have cloned those wires out straight away, but i didnt think they were really a distraction. They kinda added mood to the cityscape. I might try it anyway and compare the two. I have already cloned out a couple of stray lights shining out of windows

Great shot. OYu can also try to clone, stamp out the wires in the shot. I had got the same tip from an usefilm users and it helps sometimes. If you are opposed to editing images with ps like me , then..........!

steve, awesome light! i had a similar experience here in virginia except that the sky was green. nay, the "air" was green. very strange. my pictures didn't look nearly as cool as yours tho. i like this very much. excellent detail in the clouds leaving the fore in silhouette or semi-shadow. good job!

take care,
tom

Just had a bit of a play with it, and i think i prefer it this way. just increased the contrast in the foreground to give it a more silhouette feel and to make the road stand out.

What an amazing sunset, the colours are stunning. It is a pity you couldn't get somewhere else for the shot, i know how this feels, it has happened to me a few times, but what can you do. Well done steve.
