Thanks Chris, yes you are correct. The contrast range was very high and it took a bit of work to get some colours out of the shadows. I have just ordered an SB800 flash for my D70. I read some very good reports on its ability to give good fill flash balanced exposures. Just the job for these types of situations. Hope you are refreshed after you break in the Big Smoke. Regards John

i like the painterly effect that you have employed with this fitting photo. i find the green cast to cool over all though. Although it does give it that old photograph feel somewhat.

Looks like the light could have been a problem with this one, John. An interesting shot nonetheless.
Kind regards, Chris

I had a laugh when I read your comment Roger. This has had Watercolour, Dry brush and pallet knife filters applied and blended. I guess I was too subtle in their application. Regards John

Ahh the umbrella action really pulls this whole image together it has a Toulouse Lautrec feel dont it... perhaps a tad of watercolour filter to it and bingo

John, If there was any other time that I'd like to have been born, it would be the Victorian era. Please, share more photos if you have them. This is really, really nice. I'm adding it to my favs. -- Debby

John, I like this a lot. Could you get rid of the green cast in their faces ?
Do you have a print ?

Cheers
