About This picture was taken at the slope of 20 meter high sand dune during the workshop at the Polish coast;
what I want to obtain here was small DOF and as many details of the sand as possible;
I was fascinated by the texture of the sand made by the wind;
I hope you like it
The shot was taken on b&w slide (no conversion); it looks like it is ? no PS except resize and frame;

Comments are welcome, especially with the critic

Regards

Lukasz

(P.S. today, I went to the forests with friend of mine to take some pictures; I woke up at 4.30 in the morning so we could be there before the sunset and I took no pictures at all because of weather ? the temperature is much below zero; it was the second time in the last few weeks; I am desperate to take some shots now :-) )

Hi Lukasz, Good choice of choosing the longitudinal direction of the patterns in the sand. Not an usual choice, but that's what makes this image. The shallow DOF, as well as the lighting creates a good feeling of depth. Very intriguing and ispiring image... I have to keep this in mind!

Cheers,

Hugo

Great shot, Lukasz. I love how you've used such a limited dof to keep our attention in one area long enough to really explore the texture & detail of the sand. And there is a wonderful dynamic created in the play between the vertical lines in the sand & the horizontal stripe of the area in-focus. Strong choice to print (i mean shoot!) in b&w - it works really well here. Beautiful & compelling.

To tell the truth I had to accustom for a while to your point of focus.
But... well..., why not?

This is nice.....very nice.
I like the vertical lines and this image shows the focal range very well.
Softness at the front leading into sharp and well defined sand....sand at that, not that easy to show detail....then leading back to a soft focus.
Well seen and captured.

A mesmerising image, Lukasz!
With the d.o.f. so shallow, and the sharp section in the middle, it feels a little strange.
Kind regards, Chris
P.S. My sympathies with respect to your trip!!

to me the DOF is very swallow and is wrong; may be you can be interested in one similar recent shot of mine; a rock with similar waves in BW
