A great composition, Peter, and also an element of mystery: why are the fishermen looking upward, has their companion just flown away?! I can see what other people are saying about cropping the top, but to me the detail there gives the thing context, emphasises the tranquility of their activity, a sanctuary from the normal everyday bustle. Sometimes, over abstraction, just concentrating on the essential elements, rob a picture of that sparkle of real life, and it just becomes a slightly sterile statement about the essence of the thing.

Hi Peter,
great contrast composing in BW, love the bold fishermen and their tools. I'm not sure if the upper area needs to be that prominent. perhaps a different cropping would bring in some more spice here.
anyway, nice finding.
take care, thilo

Hi Peter, very strong use of silhouettes and the highlighs of the backlighting. Very good composition, too, especially because of the curve in the shoreline with the surfs rolling ashore. The dunes in the background would make a nice element for another shot, but as the primary subject seems to be in the foreground of this image, I do find them a bit distracting. With this POV, I think you could've very well cropped off the top of the image, only emphasising the atmosphere in stead of reducing it... Anyhow, a very strong image, and an excellently captured shot.
Cheers,
Hugo

Love the fishermen silhouettes. And the contrasty water, which seems to sparkle on the wet sand.
Very nice, great textures in this one, love the composition!

I'm not totally sure about this one. I keep being drawn to the pilings (old pier)in the distance. I think it is maybe too close to the top of the frame. I think it is also a little over sharpened. Just my opinion. It is non the less a very worthy subject, and I would like to see you explore it more.
Regards, David
