What a joy this one is. The whirring wings of the little bird set against the sky are wonderful. The decoys look great along with the perspective of the corn rows leading to the dramatic sky. Antonia

Pat, Thanks for your nice comments on my portfolio. I especially like this shot. Wonderful angels and lighting. Your whole portfolio is filled with beautiful imagery that envokes a real "americana" feel. You are very fortunate to live in such a magnificient part of the country (no matter what Rand McNally thinks...) Will continue to check in on your new work. Laurie

well, they never even came to have a look that night. It's quite a challenge to lure them in. A great deal of scouting takes place trying to find where they are feeding. looking for evidence that they have been in the field before. footprints droppings etc. Ultimatly it is up to them where they go each night to feed in the fields. the decoys and calling only work when they come within sight. later in the season when the migration peeks it becomes easier. I have earned a great respect for those photographers who get tight close ups of these guys in the wild. they are very difficult to get close to. I supose I could just go to the zoo but what fun would that be...

Sorry to hear that the decoys didn't look as good to the birds as they did to me. I agree about the humanity issue of using wild vs. pent up animals - at least they (wild) had a life rather than never knowing what being a "wild" animal is like.

LOL, I don't shoot the geese with anything other than my camera, (anymore.) My son is the hunter. In my humble opinion it's more humane than buying meat at the store. This day we where skunked. which happens more often than not. hopefully by before they make their way trough South Dakota I will get some good close ups of these magnificent birds. Alive.

Are you going to hurt them when they do? :( I hope we don't get to see those photos... I love the sky in the shot Pat. It's very nice and those geese look real to me so great decoys.
