About I just came back from another boat trip that lasted for 3 days heading North from my place on Hornby Island. On the way we stopped off at a few small islets and I snapped off a few photos.

fabulous shot, tim. I love how the underwater rocks in the foreground just pull me into the piece. Dramatic & yet this piece also has a wonderful calm about it.

Hi Chris,

Well a few on this little Islet as the skipper of the vessal was ancious to keep going up stream to get to port before dark. The day pior to this one we had to go for 2 hours in the dark with large floating logs all around us. We were lucky and didn't hit any. the right sized log could easyly put a hole in the hull.
I took over the 2 days on the water around 323 photos. lots of them were bracketing and manual setting tests. I am happy if i get 2-3 good shots per 100. As my shooting situations mostly don't allow time for much contemplation.

Cheers, Tim

Hi John.
Yes I know what you mean. I was on both sides of the criticism with this photo. I had cropped the bottom at one time. but then it became to "average" to my eye. the lead-in created by the foreshore and interesting foreground under the water really competes for attention not allowing my eye an easy access to the trees in the mid-ground. Never the less I found it necessary to create something a little different. we are inundated by so much imagery these days its hard to come up with something that interests the eye with intrigue. You took the time to write to me so good or bad it has achieved that affect to some degree. Thanks for your heartfelt comment it is worth allot to me.

Cheers, Tim

Okay Tim - I'll be honest here. When I looked at the thumbnail I had the impression of a super wide tipped down such that the image bottom would be underneath me. I see the same in the larger image. Somehow the bottom half of this doesn't work for me. Looking at the other comments I am in the extreme minority but thats ok with me. I see your objective, it just doesnt work for me. Great images on the whole and I like your work. How is the painting coming? - JB

Ooh! I really like this one. A grad filter or poalrizer for that sky would make a 10 this 9. Very nice!

You are one lucky Guy Tim. What a wealth of beautiful scenery you are surrounded by. You must have a lfetimes worth of shots within striking distance. This is awesome. Keep posting cos I can't get enough of them.

"Snapped a few photo's"?!*! You're pulling our legs on two counts, Mr. Schumm!! 1. How many is "few"?!! (For me, it's around 250!!) And, 2. I would hardly use the word "snapped" in connection with your wonderful work!!
My compliments!
Kind regards, Chris

A very photogenic area Tim. The crystal clear water, the strata of the rocks and the little outcrops would give me enough subject matter to last a few years. Thanks for sharing. Regards John

Beautiful. I love the lead-in from the submerged rocks and the shape of the rock island, the layers of colour and the overall lighting. One of your best - it cries out for a medium format camera to bring out the multitude of detail but even as a digital image it's stunning.
