I do love her expression...The look in her eyes is so "old" coming from such a young girl..The tipping of her head makes her appear so comfortable with you..I think overall...aside from the slight overexpose and softness..its a wonderful image and a even greater accomplishment considering you were just experimenting! Beautiful girl..btw :> If your using photoshop..theres a section in there called "sharpen" that would have tightenend up those pixels just fine..The softness in this image is so minor it could have been easily corrected then the appropriate soft focus added on top... Also in ps...if you hit shortcut key c-l your levels would pop up and your black to white scales could have been corrected. Hope this helps!
Personally I like the really dark shot in black and white, using uneven light and shadow for effect and mood, also I'm not a fan of soft focus. I guess with this shot I was trying to get out of my comfort zone, using lighting and focus techniques that I son't personally like that much, more for self education and to increase my reppertoire of techniques more than anyting else. The softness on the size that is posted does appear a little excessive, however it is sharper on the original large image, and on the print also, not by much, but just a little. As for the exposure, for what I was trying to achieve, I actually think that its more of a case that the back portion of the face is underexposed, needed more reflection in it. I was deliberately going for the high key and even slightly washed out look. The cropping is straight out of the camera by the way, no post processing of any sort...thanks for your comments, though, they are duly noted..this is a forum for learning, after all. :)
