Two months of work converting image from color, masking, working with 4 layers, etc.
Adjusted: Everything. Fixed minor stitching problems, darkened sky to IR film look, spot contrast adjustments everywhere, and pixel - by - pixel corrections to a masking line across the image.
Removed a motor home (20 pixels) on the road that runs through the frame. You would not even see it in this posted image, but since we are all supposed to be honest, right?
Added the red and yellow back in for a more classic look.
I really wish there was a way to save panoramics better. Ah well.
Wow! No idea re the prints sorry but am trying to think of it as multiple images arranged to gether, which wouldn't be totally undoing all your work. Good luck though.
Thanks. The curved mask you see was created in Adobe Illustrator. I imported the photo into Illustrator, drew the mask using splines since I could control the handles and curve fit through copies and then tried to save the whole file off as JPEG. At this point the memory blew, and I wound up importing the Adobe mask seperately as another layer into Photoshop.
My version of Photoshop won't allow me to even bend a photograph back, so this treatment was a creative way to display an upward curving image. Instead of black or white, which seemed easier, I used a dark gray which seemed to go with the overall tone of the photo.
michael, stunning view! i love your treatment (and your honesty regarding the huge amount of work it took to produce this beauty). i especially like your solition to the curvature problem. much rather see it this way than straightened in PS. when you do that all manner of things look slightly off.
as to the photo: wonderful detail everywhere. those clouds are simply perfect. great contrast esp. against the black sky. i love that hybrid IR look. you don't usually ee this perspective of the tetons unless you're there. i just wish i could see it larger. i think i'll take you up on your offer of a larger view. excellent shot and very well done.
