This is our first meeting on the pages of "Usefilm", Mr. Hamilton, but being a psychoanalytically trained psychiatrist, the great number of photos from within a psychiatric hospital aroused my curiousity and I decided to take a look at youir portfolio. From all the impressive photos in it I decided to settle on the present one, arbitrarily, I must say, as there are many excelllent photos and not just of rooms in the Tokanui Psychiatric Hospital. I am also curious about your interest in that psychiatric hospital and if you find it appropriate and provide me with an e mail address (Mine is rafael1930@bezeqint.net ) I will send you my book at no cost to you. You are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay visits to my portfolio. In the meantime congratulations for you SC. Best regards, Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future comminications) Springmann

very good series about a place so "sad" and evocative! So nice also this one with the christmas decorations forgotten ...they increase the sense of desolation and of a place really gloomy and dark. See ya, my bestr regards.

Hi Kym
Thanks very much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you are enjoying my series.
Tokanui is a great place to photograph you can't help but be moved by the place. Unfortunately authorities have come across the images on my website. Needless to say that the security guard that was giving me access has been grilled about letting me in and my access to the site has been stopped but where there is a will there is a way.
I checked out your website I love the images you have made with the "lensbaby" first I've heard of such a thing and your photo art is inspiring. I gather that you work as full time photographer.
Take care and I lookforward to seeing more of your work in the future.
Mark

Mark, I just discovered you and this series yesterday. I have to tell you how much I really love these images (and I'd give my left arm to shoot there myself :).
You've really done a great job with the whole series and this one is no exception. Love the light and the composition. Well done.
