Same serie... I don't really know why but I keep thinking of the titanic when I look at this picture... probably because it looks a bit like the hull of a boat seen from below... Well, whatever, I like this picture a lot due to the strong variation of colors. Really, if you have a chance to go to such a slot canyon once in your life, take a tripod and your camera and you'll spend hours shooting at every directions: you go 2 steps forward and the scenery is completly different than the one before then you look on your right and wow! you get something even nicer... A real paradise for photography !!
Thanks for you encouraging remarks for this serie of pictures. As you asked me where the location of this canyon was, I let you read the answer I did to Fern in which I explained everything in detail. All the pictures I published on this site are from the South Antelope Canyon except the "I see the light at the end of the tunnel..." which was taken in the North canyon. Since these pictures got some success I will add some more from the same serie... come back have a look at them if you want. Chris
Thanks for your comment. As you asked me where it was and other people did too I will explain in detail in my reply. If you already know it because you've been there, just stop reading here ;) You probably know that one of the most famous slot canyon is the Antelope Canyon next to Page in Utah. Well, actually the famous one is the "North" Antelope Canyon. I didn't know before arriving there, but there is also a "South" Antelope Canyon (there is also the X Canyon but I haven't been in this one so I won't talk about it.. maybe next time if I return there once). The "north" canyon is shaped like an upside down valley (a bit like this /\) so it's really easy to access into it (just imagine a wide crack on a wall, the path being at the same level as the floor outside). You can make tour group since it's wide enough and when the sun is high in the sky, you get some rays of light that enter into the canyon and create an amazing view. Everything is perfect to make an attractive tourist destination and that's what made its "celebrity". Well, when I went to the north one (still not knowing that there was a south one), the sky got cloudy and the pictures didn't turn as good as expected, so I thought I would return the next day if the weather was nice. The second day I went by myself by car until the entrance of the site (the previous day I took a guided photo tour from Page) and it's only at that time that I saw the sign for the south canyon. I didn't know what to expect but being curious by nature I went there and it turned out to be amazing ! This canyon is a V shaped canyon and the access is much more difficult (see picture for the south canyon entrance) than to the north canyon. Which actually was pretty good because there was almost nobody inside, I walked freely (without having to follow the guide like in the north canyon), stayed longer in the canyon and all this at a lower price. The fact that the path was really narrow made the whole trip funny and, as a storm occured two days before and the canyon had been flooded, the walls were slippy and I got muddy... A really interesting and unique experience !
This is a wonderful photo. To me, it looks like beautiful fabric laying in soft mounds. The colors are spectacular. Where is this? Please do tell. ~~ Debby
