This is very moving. One of my favorite hangouts is in City Cemetary here in Lynchburg. I have a ton of images on here. In my humble opinion, you needed a lower perspective on here to include more of the stones and shadows beyond, while keeping this as your selective focus. Your dof was right on. I want to thank you for stopping to comment on mine. I may go to the D Day Memorial and take a few shots to commemorate Veterans day. I look forward to seeing more of your bw's in the future. Regards, Rebecca

Chris,
Very nice image and yes a powerful one as well. I think the comments about setting the stone off center are valid. Also I think the stone needs to be more prominent. Burn in the background more to help set the stone off more. I am attaching a fixed up image to help illustrate what I am talking about.

I agree with Andrew's comments, but this is powerful as it is. The limited depth of field works well here to convey the hundreds or thousands of others who are probably here too. Poor Lee, he accomplished a lot in his short 20 years.

Pretty powerful statement. I would have felt better if there were a little more at the bottom, and possibly just a little more off center to add to the repetitive nature of the shot, there are I assume hundreds of these.
At the least a toast to Cpl Phillips, but this day and age he would be just shy of being able to legally toast his accomplishments.
