I have the same problem with natural lighting with reds... see example...
I've been able to correct this with special indoor lighting (Floresent bulb).
Outside some help can be done by setting the flash to the Pre-flash TTL BUT do not lift the flash... Try it... Pre-flash TTL - calculates flash exposure with a pre-flash only. This mode must be used when using close-up filters or filters that reduce the amount of light entering the camera such as neutral density filters. Pre-flash TTL must be used when a diffuser is attached to the built-in flash or an external flash unit.

Excellent macro shot, Peter. On my screen this pink is so dark it looks red. I think our Minolta digitals' metering system has something to do with the yellow on red. Below is an example of mine in multi-segment metering. Just opposite of yours. When I changed to spot metering and metered on on the brightest portion on the flower, all of it came out red as it was suppose to be. Regards, Jimmy
