like it, it gives the image a pano view, and well done with the scull looking rock in the forground, looks like a wonderful place, one place i didnt reach on my cross country trip, but will make it to someday...

Tom this is very good...
I like the texture on the skull itself and the shadows to the right help to separate the skull from the rest of the picture.
I think the crop and colors are very good.

Hi tom, the cropping is just right I think as it allows me passed the scull rock to the person in the background. If you had not cropped the sky above the rock it would be drawing my attention up there and would not allow my eye to rest further into the image on the person in the background.

stefan, thank you! actually this was taken very late in the day and the light was quite orange. unfortunately i lost some of that hue in the process of reducing the shadows. i tried using the color replacement tool to recover it but it looked "unnatural". so i came up with this compromise. and yes, this was taken sans polarizer. with the sun as low as it was i think the effect would've been nil anyhow. actually it was your comments on my original shot that inspired me to shoot this late in the day. i think you were right ;^)

This is a great angle and excellent use of the wide angle to exaggerate the size of the skull - it is a large rock but the comparison with the person here made it huge. I agree with you about the crop. The late light is what you need here. You could always push saturation a little if you wanted it to pop even more although I love the sky just like this (this is without polarizer, right?) The 50/50 panorama works really well too. I'll rate a picture for once :-)

Hi Tom, Excellent shot ! The color contrast give impact to the picture. For me, I would like to include the rock at a narrow margin.

hugo, thanks. it was tricky though ;^) the +EV comp solved the shadow issue but also cast a haze over the image and took a bit of tweaking to get the colors and sharpness back to normal. usually i can easily fix that sort of thing by increasing the shadows but in this case i didn't have that option ;^)

don, thanks for the comment. cutting the top of the rock was a coin flip really. the top of the rock doesn't really add to the comp. as it also increases the dead space of clear sky. i thought that cutting it gave it a more panoramic feel and exagerated the size of the rock. i wonder what you think....

I like the interest and the inclusion of the person on the right to give a sense of size of this rock but i do not see why you cut the top off the rock. The colors seem very normal. Don.
