Hi Hugo!
Thanks for Your well thought out and helpfull comment on this photo!
Actually the pier is on a slight angle and the perspective enhanced this a bit.You can tell by the length of the pilings as it reaches into the water.
I guess it is a little busy but It is a depiction of what goes on while the sun is coming up.
Again thanks for taking the time My friend!
My best...........JOHN

Hi John, The pier makes the horizon seem a bit tilted. Not sure if that's the case though. Superb tones, and an excellent atmosphere, though.

I'm kind of torn between either loving this shot or hating it.... I'm not sure why, and that's what makes it very appealing.

For one, I think it's heavily loaded with different subjects: The fog obscuring the buildings in the background, the apparent tilt in the pier, the birds feeding off the wet beaches, the black framing by rocks in the lower part of the image, the meandering shoreline (darker area on the left hand side of the image, running up) and last, but definately not least, the brilliant / radiant reflection of the rising sun... In a way too good to be true, but also a bit of an overkill, if you see what I mean. Each of these elements would've made a winner by themselves, but putting them together in a single shot kills it a bit, I think....

Cheers,

Hugo

This is an excellent shot John. I haven't seen such a lovely sunrise in a long time. The jetty takes the eyes towards the sun, from dark to light. You really achieved an excellent composition here. The birds round of the photo giving it a natural and live character. What's also interesting is the fact that there are no birds in the light reflection.

Congratulations.

Willem

"Incredible" is the only word that works. And just think, as the days get shorter you won't have to get up so early in the morning to catch these beautiful sunrises.

NIce shot John. Maybe you should try to try to leave the sky line horizontally (it seems it?s gonna fall to the left. It is a goog shot though.
