Chris,
one thing I've been wondering about .... the parking laws down your way. How come theres never a car parked right in shot?
I've recently been keeping an eye out for Spracklenesk cottages in the Peak, but when I find them theres usually at least 3 cars parked covering every angle.
You must have help from the constabulary, or some higher authority ;-)

Excellent work Chris. Chris, you ought to write a book on Adobe PS as you do amazing work without destroying the image ! Unfortunately, I tend to do the latter lol

Well, as you know I tend to drop on Roger's side of the fence with these, but hey lots of other folks really like them.
On this one I think the filters have tended to work against you a little, especially around the chimneys and roof line, where they have exagerated the few missed pixels in the selection for the sky replacement. Not a mistake you usually make Chris. I'm usually in awe of you and your mastery of the selection tool.

Hi Chris, Nice photoshop job. I do believe one should have a go at this kind of stuff every now and then. The sky is radiant. Excellent tones there. And although I usually dislike the sketch filter you applied to the houses, I only noticed that on closer inspection. Still not my favourite, but it has been applied subtly. Interesting overhaul! Care to share the original photo with us?
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks, Roger!!
I didn't really mean 'hate' in the truest sense of the word, but I appreciate your comment, value your judgment and respect your photographic principles.
Have a great weekend ~ what's left of it over there!!
Best regards, Chris
P.S. I'm off to view the cottage!

There's nothing to "hate" about any of your work, Chris, and I'm sorry you should think that I do. It's just that I have this funny reluctance about trying to improve on what was actually there, imposing my view of how it "ought" to have looked. But you do very well imposing your view of how things ought to look, and I have no quarrel with that, indeed I respect both the vision and the skill to realise it.
I have a Japanese cottage for you, today, by the way!

Hi Chris, i thought you meant Robert Kincade (Clint Eastwood) the photographer in "The Bridges of Madison County", I don't think he used PS though ;-) I'm going to stick my neck out here and say i like this one! The multi effects have worked really well... my only gripe is the Halo effect around the edges of the roof, chimney etc. If it would be possible to keep all the effects and not have the Halo this would be brilliant +++, as it is it is only brilliant +. ;-) Best wishes and have a nice weekend. Neil

Morning Mr S :-) I find Kinkade kitch - good thing taste differs, huh? :-) Your images might be saturated to the extent that purists dislike it, but others (like moi!) like the "heavy" feel of your typical English cottages and narrow lanes. Yes, you run the risk of being type-cast but is that such a bad thing? :-) I like this image - but not the sky. It's as if that heavy white cloud is too "cut off" behind the chimney? Linn

Hi Chris... Compliments for this beautiful capture. I never heard of Thomas Kinkade, but I looked at his website as you suggested. Just for a moment... it definitely isn't my kind of taste. I think there is a big difference between your work and his. His work looks so unnatural and yours looks very natural to me... just a compliment to you! greetings, Diana.

Chris, almost, but for a Kinkade you need more speckles of light spots.
When I first saw his work I LOVED it, now I'm so sick of it I'm really glad I never bought one. And it's on EVERYTHING, all types of gift items!!! You're right, NOT everyone's cup of tea.
I've seen other photographs that you've done that I think more resembled his than this one. Can't think of the titles of them however.
BUT...looks like you had fun (Roger will live) LOL
NIce work, as usual Not to worry, we won't call you TK...(although he is making a rather good living at it!)
Lori :)
