About Back to the Manor Gardens for a couple more shots?

This one has been cropped and worked on in PS7 ~ including add a glow by way of the PS lighting effects. I cloned out the imperfections on the leaves and also used the 'pastel' filter to give an artsy feel.

Many thanks to all my UF buddies for all their kind and encouraging comments, as well as for the inspiration provided by YOUR work!!

Best regards to you all, Chris

I think I actually like the original you posted better than this version. It just has a much more 'real' beauty to it, in my opinion. Maybe a slight brightening up of the levels would be all that was needed to bring it to 'life'. The focus is spot on, and the colours are beautifully muted and yet also rich.

I like the lightning...especially.
Well done..

Merete :-)
PS. You work alot with filters etc..but you haven't worked with different backgrounds..have you?? When you fade or retouch the picture..the background will appears..and you'll get another effect because of the texture...
:-)
I'm DANISH.... so...my English has some limits, I'm affraid...but I'll improve... :-)

Hi Chris; a very nice composition, and I like your PS work here. The texture and detail look so real it looks like one could reach out and touch the flower. I might ad that it looks like you're realizing the joys of doing macro work w/ a long focal length lens. I've been doing this kind of shot w/ my close focusing Olympus 50-200 (100-400mm 35mm equivalent)-- sort of opens up a whole new world;>). Nice work. Cheers. Craig

BEAUTIFUL Chris,

This is REALLY a nice photograph!
Love the effects you gave this, not
overdone; just right to make it
outstanding, looking great
without screaming 'filter' (just whispering)
Yet very 'artsy'!!
Good work,
Lori :)

Great change Chris, It is alwasy satisfying to take what you consider to be 'not a great shot' and turn it into something interesting/different etc.

This could be making a silk purse from a sow's ear. Great work. Very nice effect. Don.

Excellent work Chris, I have lots of daisys in my garden (and unknown flowers resembling them) and they always seem to pick up the dirt and are not photogenic at all - but you have really brought out the beauty in this - great photo !

Wow! So lovely!
You did a great job here, Chris.
I like the pastel tones and the lighting effect but... most of all I like the angle and the crop.
Excellent focus and DOF
You turned this pretty common flower into a superb beauty.
I love it!
Regards - Emgy

Hi Chris, nice use of the PS lighting effects. Very natural. Maybe you could've applied even a tad more, as the original shot is quite subdued, and that still shows through in the petals. Well done. Very inspiring, thanks for giving insight on what you did, very useful information...)

Cheers,

hugo

Very creative I like the work you did here. I dont like the overall image in general, but the work you did is fantastic. I think more color is my style or none at all, not sure, still learning about flower photography. Its a wonderful macro, I've never been able to achieve this yet. Great comp too. The glow adds to it! Good job. ~mandy
