Wonderful photograph. I was reading the comments and noticed a comment about the noise. I think some of the noise just brings out the butterfly more. I use PaintShop PRO 8.1 and Photoshop CS. I was told and showed by a UF friend to use median filter in PSCS. In PSP8 I have the same filter and also have "Texture prserving Smooth" These have helped me....
Thanks for sharing.... Your new friend, Peter

You're full of it, huh? Your comment on my "Unleashed Defence" had us rolling with laughter! "Coiled spring"???!!! Maybe only when you reach for another teatime treat!

Hi Linn, I did think about driving home to pick up my garden shears so that I could slice off that long leaf, but I just had a feeling that the butterfly might have gone by the time I got back!!! :-) Thanks for your consistently kind comments! Best regards, Chris

Morning Chris I like this - but then ... I like filters and yes, I know how they can add noise to an otherwise perfect image :-) Whether I like the long leaf is a different story :-) You made the flutterby pop beautifully. Linn

45 seconds ? I will have to learn your secrets ... I usually run around like a madman, not sure if the visitors to my local butterfly house come for the butterflies or to capture me running around lol Great capture Chris :-)

This was well worth the wait. It isn't the amount you take it is how well you take each one. Just beautiful. Great presentation. It's a winner. Don.

I stand corrected. Nice PS work. I guess my reaction is still a negative one. The sandstone feature is not apparent enough and really does look more like noise to me than anything else. Very creative but I guess it's not necessarily my cup of tea. I look forward to seeing your next creation!

Hi Jim, Many thanks for the comment but, actually, the 'noise' you referred to is a texture I added in PS7. I made an eliptical selection around the flower and butterfly, inverted it, feathered it, and then darkened the area down before adding a sandstone texture. Fortunately my D70 is not prone to noise, even at 1600 ISO! Thanks again for your thoughtful comment. Kind regards, Chris

Beautiful image, but the shadowed portions of your image are quite noisy. It's a bit of a distraction. You might want to explore using NeatImage or other software to minimize noise in your image. Otherwise your cropping, composition and presentation are great.

Well, Lori, I must admit I did think about making the flower a little less obtrusive, but when I darkened it down it didn't look very good at all!!
Unfortunately, the butterfly ~ which was obviously a 'she'! :-) ~ would not sit and wait whilst I moved the flower!!
Thanks for the comment!!
Chris

HI Chris,
Love the presentation on this one. I've got to try this...
Nice rich greens and beautiful colored butterfly! HE goes well with the green! Not sure I like that flower competing with the butterfly, or maybe it's the butterfly that's competing with the flower!! (figure that one out)!! LOL
Nice job! LOri :)
