About 30 Year's ago this was a rundown farmhouse, way outside of town, and as kids, we used to swim in a slate quarry nearby on the property. There were some gravestones in the front garden and an old lady dressed in black, brandishing a shotgun used to chase us away. It was recently refurbished and it is now an office in the middle of the suburbs. It used to belong to the Erasmus family on whose farm most of the South East of Pretoria is built.

Great shot of a familiar landmark in Pretoria Robert. Used to drive past it daily on my way to work. Regards.

It's a wonderful building and it definitely dosn't look spooky now. But I've seen the other photo of the house the way you rembember it and I can only imagine how spooky it really looked when you were a kid. Gravestones, old lady in black, you and your friends running away scared by a shotgun..... oh my, what a scene! I can't help smiling now, but I'm sure that back then there was nothing funny in it, particularly not for kids.
I like both photos a lot but the "spooky" version is my favourite one on account of the atmosphere and the mood.
Hugs - Emgy

Hi Margaret, I looked for some info on the house and I found a story that is similar to mine, read the first paragraph on this website: http://www.witness.co.za/content/2003_03/13822.htm

Also, a local school did an archeological dig near there and found stone-age implements.

Thanks for the interest, Robert
