About The entire exhibition spanned 8m by 12m with a centrepiece of a baobab tree standing 6m tall and 2m wide, above which hangs a huge bright red "sun" (1.4m in diameter) made of dried Protea flowerheads. As getting a real Baobab tree to London for the show was out of the question, a look-alike tree was created, using a steel core covered in woven bark (alien vegetation was used for this purpose) that was dismantled and flown to London.

Radiating from the Baobab is 9 interlocking circles of stone walling, each showcasing the flora of a different region of South Africa such as Fynbos, Savanna, Kalahari, Renosterveld, Succulent Karoo, Lowveld/bushveld and Eastern Cape thicket. The four corners of the exhibit was finished off with decorative traditional floor patterns using dried cones and seed pods and features displays of micro flora such as the tiny succulent stone plants (Lithops). This exhibition consisted of 40 different varieties of Proteas and 200 species of indigenous plants.

This series is dedicated to John Barclay who will soon be experiencing a photographic vacation. Here's wishing him a wonderful experience!

In case you were wondering ... I didn't attend the Chelsea show :-) The exhibition was moved back to South Africa and displayed at a nearby nursery.

Now this is my favourite, it is just fabulous, and thank you for taking so much trouble to tell us all about it. When I saw 'Chelsea FLower show' I thought surely she hasn't sneaked over to London and not been in touch, Glad you got the chance to see it.

Hi Linn, this looks like fun, i love the way you have presented the series and for all lovers of flowers it must be a brilliant place to visit. I thought of you the other day. Here is a site you might like to check, take a look at their 'magic studio' examples, so simple yet so effective.

Oh yeah Linn,
Google is the BEST! We had a major magazine a while back (Newsweek) that had a lengthy article on the two guys (YOUNG guys!!) who founded Google. It was amazing to read about!

Nice montage Linn - my uncle used to show begonias at the Chelsea show and several others around the UK. Takes me back a few decades when we used to arrive early morning to see if we had taken the large gold - an/or trophy ... now I am showing my age. And I gain another year in a few days time :-(
