About As a proud former New Yorker, I tend to belittle the relatively diminuative Washington DC subway system. But I must admit, the architecture of the Washington Metro is first-rate, probably some of the best of 1970's.

Here, looking up from the platform, you are treated to the grand sweeping curve of the escalator opening and the waffled vaulted ceiling of the station.

Actual exposure, 1/4 sec at f/5.6, ISO set to 1600.

Hi Steve, very good and pleasing composition. The viewer can really flow with this one, the curve of the balcony and the ceiling. Make it really interesting. I could imagine this giving several good photo opportunities in different light. Nice work.
Best wishes - Neil

a truly beautiful shot Steve. i have always loved the DC metro. lovely 'futuristic' stations. and clean too. the NYC trains/stations have a history and functionality that cannot be touched, but the DC system definitely has a foot up on aesthetics. the only ones i've found to be nicer looking are the newer tube stops in london, which are absolute bliss. also great contrast between the curves and the straight lines. well done!

great shot you've taken-very efficient use of the frame. all the necessary elements and nothing else.

Nice S curve composition. It take a bit of looking to actually appreciate this shot. I didnt even notice the train on the bottom right at first. Great perspective. Tim
