It's a Ford explorer, so the suspension is stiff. I just have to be careful of where and how I drive. I had not considered combining two images, it seems like an effective way to get past my camera's limitations. Thanks so much for the advice!

you know i'm familiar with this kind of shots,Ryan, and i like seeing you experimenting in this field ;-)
a steadily placed tripod can provide adequate support for long exposures in the car as long as the vehicle's suspension is not stiff and the road not bumpy. i usually mount my camera on a light suction cup made by cullmann, but since it needs a flat surface to suck on it's difficult to shoot from such angles like you did.
your camera's longest shutter time is limiting - have you tried shooting a couple of 30sec exposures in sequence with the camera mounted on exactly the same spot and the car running, and then combine them into one image?
have fun and keep shooting ;-)

I don't have any kind of special mount, I put my camera on my tripod and wedged the legs into my back seat cushions. And I just drove carefully, making sure not to hit any huge bumps.

Yes... was very nice!
There is less blur inside car, so this is much better!
Good work Ryan! 7!

I do want to try that, but alas, I don't have an external flash. I'll get one eventually. What is Milk and Kisses?

I see you did some shopping dear...amazing shot, did you use a flash? because using a flash the lines or the street light remain as they are (motion) but what the flash lights is frozen and appears clearly (your face for example)
Do you know "Milk and Kisses?"
