About This is manipulated but not on the pc, This is a photo that I shot again placing it among surfaces. I have a large series of this kind of images. The surfaces alter the images giving my beloved distortion feeling to them.

truly excellent - for me i do not need to see hints of how the image is created - only that the image is what it is and how it effect me .. and it does effect me in an emotional way - it takes me somewhere i wish to be visualy and emotionaly - i see something new .. or maybe it's that i see something from long ago much clearer...

Hi!

Mary, I've always felt that mirrors are doors. When I look at this image, I feel like I'm trapped inside a bottle, looking out on the world. Great work.

Very interesting series Mary. I think that this one is probably the best, until now. I could only suggest you to avoid strong light sources in your composition.

Thank you very very much for your comments.

your comment moved me deeply at many levels...
as you said..."false pride"... a false idea about oneself, a "self image" that we cannot easily drop as we are not aware of the true psychological elements that comprise us...everything is "a mirror within a mirror", "a dream within a dream" because all is subjective and reflect personal opinions or impact of social and family matters! This comment is on top of the comments I loved...thank you...At some point of my life my writing and my pictures started to reflect my ideas clearly, this made me happy as I no longer had to expain what I want to share...

"Effects" have a much better chance of being convincing when created this way, maybe just because it is a "global" change to the image. This is dream like as noted, but the initial reaction I had was that of a memory - for me it makes the reflection a little more meaningful :-)

I have to say that I find this image fascinating. I keep coming back to it and looking, and yet unsure of how to comment. I absolutely love shots where you can obtain "abstracts" within the camera. It can be hard to do, but it forces you to get creative. I think this is one of the finest I've seen of shots like these. It just has this ghostly feeling to it, makes me think of parties from back in the days. Joyous laughing, drinking, mingling...and yet what lies behind closed doors is something else. I keep looking at it, and to me it speaks of "false pride". The way the surface distorted this image can be linked to the person's emotional persona-the way they view themselves compared to the rest of the world. I think for me the bright spots seem just fine, its representative of "life flashing before one's eyes". Perhaps I have read too much into the image, but it really has spoken to me...and if you can get an image to do this, then in my eyes that makes a perfect photo.

Hugo I find your comments precious...It is important to share and you do it so well!! Thank you for the imformation and observing comments! You are so right about the aperture, I can see it. This is a very old series, yes maybe I will upload more or even shoot more as I have new photos to distort in mind! Thanx for the encouragement!

Hi Mary, The more subdued tones, as well as the monochromatic effect create a stronger mood than in the previous one, I think. Very creative shot. The barely recognisable smile and the glimmer of the person behind the woman create a nice tension in this shot.

Whereas the elements in the actual photo appear to be very subtle, the mirrors and foil are a bit coarse. A few smaller cracks and creases would, IMO be more appropriate for this image. Would it be possible to play more with the distance and the aperture to control the effect more accurately?

Very intiguing series, beautifully creative and artistic work.... I'm looking foreward to the next!

Cheers,

Hugo
