Anabela, congratulations on EC, I was taken by the shot and particularly Gloria's comment about the look of resignation to a hard and harsh life....this is a powerful shot and it is not for me pick it to bits but I will say I find the shot very slightly too 'contrasty' whereas I would go for some softness to accentuate the story and of course, I can't leave without prattling on about the law of thirds, your composition is powerful and may be made more so if the child were moved slightly more toward the bottom left of the frame leaving the step on which she is reclined to disappear off into time to come....it's very good, well done. cheers, david.

this is really wonderful! Great moment. The child's expression perfectly emphasises the contrast between the large rough steps and the fragile, sweet child. It says so much about how fragile kids are in the raw tough world and they have to find their place and make sure they don't get hurt. But at the same time it tells us those wonderful little souls are everywere in our world that sometimes seems to be so rigorous.

Hi Anabela, There are creative and original as well as well composed and well captured and even quite a few with a strong atmosphere and tension by the 100's on UF every day. But less often a photo shows up that has all of these elements. IMO, this is one of them. Outstanding in all aspects. Excellent!

Excellent tones, texture and composition. I have returned to this photo several times, before writing...the child draws me back. I cannot figure out if it is the look of a very sleepy child...or a child who has lost hope and is resigned to a hard and harsh life.
