Why not, indeed?

Because he could afford the same standard of living in an apartment or house built according to the location, built in harmony with its surroundings and making best use of their features, and not in some carbon-copy homage to the inferiority complex.

I also appreciate the investment, but the same investment would have been used in building a "tropical", "Brazilian", "Tupiniquim" architecture residence.

Of course he is entitled to security. But do you know who usually lives under 24x7 surveilance, behind thick bars and without a view? Prisoners!

In theory , I agree with you,Angelo. But, if a Paulista must live in S.Paulo and can afford this luxury, why not? You see, the money he throw away is not lost, it goes to other?s pocket and this makes the economy run.For how long? I just don?t know, I guess nobody knows the answer.Outside S.Paulo,in the sea shore are nice, wonderful places, like Camburi...but the system is the same.My friend, in Camburi home has not a single key or lock in his house... but 24/7 security. Who is wrong? He ,to live like that way, since he must live in S.Paulo? Or the lack of security? Joelmir Betting, you should well remember, used to say, "in theory , practice is other".

Best & worst.

Best place to live in SP. If you can afford to live here, you are probably very near the very top of the pyramid in Brazilian society. You are guarded 24x7, probably have a chaufeur and at least one maid, probably one cook, too. Your quality of life rivals that of any US or EU upper class in terms of material comfort.

The worst because this is typical of the worst type of elitism. Even though you have a beautiful view, you still feel inferior, you still feel you need to copy a European design, brick by brick, centimeter by centimeter, the materials, etc. You want to make believe you are living in Europe when you could be living somewhere much better.

Brazilian elites suck. In general terms, of course. I know many nice people whom I love and cherish who are part of this "elite".

Elas merecem.

Abraços,

José Azevedo

This is not a public place , but a private place, inside a guarded private Condominium,Nobody comes in by its own will, but only by permission of residents.Tough? No, safety and quality of life...for those who can afforf that.

jorge
