Hi Lori--
This is a great shot of the warden's house! I've been to Alcatraz twice--it has an amazing history and wonderful vistas.
Thanks for your comments--they are much appreciated.
Regards, Anne

excellent work you've fone here lori. the subject is beautiful and interesting and i like the way you captured it. perfectly chosen angle, excellent texture. i like the combination of the ruined building and the lovely flowers in bright colours.beautiful soft blue of the sky and ocean. wonderful photo. congratulations. thanks so much for caring, i'm ok now. still on pain killers all day though, and very frustrated cause i have my right shoulder, shoulder blade and arm broken and i can't do a thing with my left hand, not even type properly, let alone shooting. it will take a while before I am fully functional again on uf. meanwhile i will be sitting here admiring your new posts and i plan to soon be writing comments again even if i will be slow.
hugs - emgy

Such contrast! Not only in the textures and colours you captured, but knowing the history of Alcatraz, it is difficult to imagine how the beautry of flowers could go hand-in-hand with the harsh prison.
This image definitely makes me think ...

Hi Lori, Amazing shot, I find the contrast between the flowers and the ruin fantastic, especially in retrospect to the history of this infamous place. Good perspective, too, and expertly exposed. As Chris already states, I still find your name in the photo a bit loud. I'd jazz it down a bit, as that would do the photo more justice...;o)
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Chris, Actually I don't think I'm protecting anything, all one has to do is clone it away! I only do it for myself, usually on the ones I think are more 'artsy', mostly because I make slide shows of a lot of images, (in hopes my children will forever watch them, especially after I'm gone..LOL, hey have to plan ahead)!!! So really only do it for myself. And when I got the Wacom pen, I really started going to town because I could write it out, but half the time I don't like my signature either!! Did I need to write this much? Probably not, just taking a break at the moment, (leaving on another trip on Friday and have been going crazy) Lori :)

Nice colourful picture, Lori, but not sure why your name is on it! When I started uploading pictures on to photo.net I would always put my name on them as I thought it would help protect my copyright in the unlikely event that someone might steal them!! (LOL!!) But then I realised that images uploaded to the net are of such low resolution, and so compressed by the JPEG process, that they would be useless for printing anyway!! That's when I stopped ~ because, so often, the name was a distraction.
Just a thought!
Kind regards, Chris.
