About This may look like a simple doe to the untrained eye, but to anyone living near Hollywood Park, Texas, it looks like controversy.

You see, the residents of this San Antonio suburb have fed the neighbor deer for a long time; so much so that many of them have become 'family pets' and draw a fair number of tourists.

The city council worried about disease and overpopulation, so they imposed a law that you could not feed them, and began working with the state wildlife department to kill/trap/remove many of them.

Great capture Paul with great composition and colour.
Pity to have to cull them especially if they pull in the tourists.
Regards,
Graham.

Often humans and other species don't mix very well. But aside from that, this is a very nice picture. I like the contrast of the feminine curvy animal against the rigid verticals of the fence. Her expression is like that of a space alien. She sees, but not what we see. A very moving picture.

Man...Illinois is over-populated deere heaven. Those who understand, and in a strange way---care, as painful as it may sound, know the deere should be...well, removed. Usually by a well aimed kill shot. Now...don't get me wrong, I do not mean kill for killing's sake. But when the population reaches a certain point, food is scarce and the deer begin a long, slow starvation process. Especially in winter. With the eradication opf the coyote in Ill, the deer have no natural enimies to keep the balance (except automobiles) It seems cruel on the surface....but they reach a population point where they become a pest and a danger. Aside from ALL that....it is a very good shot.

Paul: It's a tough thing to not feed the Whitetails as they are so appealing. Unfortunately, those who feed them don't understand what damage they're doing to the wild creatures and to their survivability.

Nice catch.

Beautiful animal and photograph also! I really like the composition, and the lighting and tone of the image.

Love the deer's leg, sooo cute. Boy, it would be very hard not to feed them. But I can understand the problem. Hope they trap them and not kill them. (I'm an animal lover, big time! LOL)

Very nice work,
Lori ;)
