ian this is the uncropped coloured version. when this place was abandoned, the vegetation creeped into the pores of the sandstone for moistures..for survival..now some 400 years later, the remaining buildings are so dependent on the trees for support such that if you dare to remove them the whole thing would collapse. Most human relationships function that way don't they?

Many similies come to mind for that growth. Has it changed the way you look at things at all being there, I wonder, because It's such a dramatic take over by nature, very jungle like, as opposed to the ordered, slower rotting of europe, lovely though that is too. It seems to me to be a very potent place. ...and there are so many things to see in those roots. I've been here before without saying hi, wonderful shot this. What's the colour like?
