Special thanks to my son, for finally letting me take his Photo,, ok was asked to describe the lighting I used,, its all natural window lighting,, no reflector, cause I forgot to bring it :) also a thanks to all in usefilm, for making photography so enjoyable, and a thanks to Detlaf, for inspireing me to do some portraits.
If I eventually do such good portraits I'll be overjoyed!
The lighting is superb, and enhances the subject - a young man looking out into the world. fettered by family yet out there in his thoughts, if not actions.
That's what I read into it, anyway. But a portarait should perhaps be open to different interpretations.
Great, great capture. This is one of my favorite portraits ever!!! When I saw this picture I immediately thought of our famous Dutch painter "REMBRANDT". He used the same kind of lightning in his paintings. I don't know if you have ever heard of this classic painter, but I think he would interest you. Take a look at this thumbnail for an example... I think you know what I mean. Bye and greetings from The Netherlands (Holland) Diana PS. I am also trying to get my son on a photo and hope I have as much as succes as you have.
Detlaf, you asked me which of my photos was my fav, at the present time Id have to say this one, I was inspired to do this, portriats are not the easiest photos to shoot, and I think this is the best portrait I have yet taken, very dramatic lighting and subject, yep,, this one :)
My middle names are Edward Jenner, after a distant relative, a physician, who just happened to discover a vaccination for Smallpox. You have him to thank for that scar on your shoulder. ;-)
I like the way the light seems to make his fingers glow. Pretty nifty. As an aside, I knew I was one of the only people out there with two middle initials -- imagine my surprise to see that someone has the same initials. Hmmm, maybe we have the same middle names....

Hey Marty...sorry I took so long to comment...the window lighting worked real well here, I think you did an excellent job on this one. Cant beleive Rob is all grown up *smile* Always remember the day I paged you on ICQ and got to have a chat with Rob...seems so long ago now. Rob you are a very handsome man, lucky ya got your moms genes *G*wink*
Glad I got you in here and back shooting again Marty...keep the images coming eh... *smile*..Maggie
no nanners, I think its the pose I have him in, if you look, youll see that arm has a leg under it, cause its resting on the knee, and his left arm resting on that, Like Imentioned I think I left him in this pose abit to long and cut off his circulation abit,, grrr my mistake..but no biggie,it could be easily fixed , but I dont want 2 of the same images up here, I dont like doing that. so Ill be happy with whats there :)
lighting is a bit of a low angle but it doesnt hurt this so dont sweat it...the pose and lighting otherwise is really glowing....eyes are like cold steel and very effective...the hands dont bother me, they look relaxed...little too much top frame dont need it all....but all in all this is an excellent image and well done Marty...very well done.....good mood and attitude....
Yes Nanners, I should have fixed that hand abit before posting,it is abit distracting, Im a posting addict, I guess I left him standing abit to long in this position :) I was looking at those eyes, and thinking, ohh I like this shot :) I dont think Il fix it and repost, though I dont like having 2 of the same images up..
