About This little boy was 'dedicated' in a service at my church this morning and I had the great joy of conducting the little 'ceremony' for him and another little lad! I took this photo to use as a PowerPoint welcome slide that we put up on the wall as people came into church. It was a great morning!!!

He is lovely, and such sweet way he is looking at you and camera! :-)) A pity you had to use flash, but still okay light. Only the background feels a bit... I don't know... like if it doesn't fill any purpose, that square behind his head could "go". No? And be made a little bit lighter, like same colour as the thin lighter line around his face.

Hi Chris,
How sweet this little boy is!

I read your explaination as to what you did in PS, really nice, and the blur doesn't bother me, it just makes it look 'artsy'! I like the way it looks in the folds of his clothing.

Nice work,
Lori :)

Good point about the 'glow' , Keith ~ caused by the heavy blur on the background layer, of course. But if you had seen the original background ~ a table and chair with some brightly coloured objects on it ~ I think even you might have wanted to do something about it!!

As to being 'blunt', never fear being honest with me, Keith! I'm here to learn and I'd much prefer constructive honesty to flannel!!

Kind regards, Chris

Chris, Nice portraite, though on this occasion I think your PS skills have let you down a little. I find the 'glow' just a little uncomfortable, and desaturating the background makes it feel as though you pated him in there.
Sorry to be so blunt, but you know I can't help it ;-)

Just to say that Luke had just woken up, a little upset, so that's why he was looking a little red in the face. Also, I had to use flash as we were inside and it was nighttime.

To get the effect, I duplicated the layer in PS, blurred and desaturated the bottom layer, then erased the background from the top layer, before flattening and framing.
