Location City -  Rio de Janeiro
State -  RIO DE JANEIRO
Country - Brazil   Brazil
About Corvado stands for a statue built early in 1930 of Christ the Redeemer, facing the Lagoon and the gateway to the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, South America.
Corcovado also stands for the name of the statue and Mountain where it is located.
Corcovado means hump back as a camel has, due to the geography of the mountain itself! *wink*

He woke up this morning veeery lazy and the foggy ambience was wrapping up the whole chain of Mountains, as if He was wearing some cloudy blanket to keep Him warm...
*sparkle*
http://www.picturesofplaces.com/CentralSouthAmerica/brazil.html
This surely is a fascinating place to visit and highly recommended to everyone!!!

>>>Learned from Steve Bowden:
Forgot to mention the scale - you are looking at the Mountain peak being about 3km away...
Image was scanned from the 10x15 photo using a ViewStation AS6E Artec flatbed.

Hi there... I have taken your advice looking for shots of the harbour...this is amazing what a pity about the towers in the background..why do we do this

Opal    {K:3826} 6/20/2004
Regina, First, thank you for nice comment about my photo. The fog and mountain in your picture really go together and then if you look close enough you can see a shadowy form. You could have taken out the tree limbs on the left and the picture would become more magical and mystical.Still a good shot..............Opal

Ian Crean   {K:14866} 6/11/2004
There's something apocalyptic about this photo, as if the mountain with the statue is about to crumble into the mist asit's being attacked by the masts behind, and it will be the end of an era (religion?).
Interesting and atmospheric.

Great! I love this sight, with those low clouds. Many years ago I got something like that, at sunset, less clouds, more Rio,just from Flamengo to Botafogo.
In June I?ll be there,to take another shot.My question: where was you to take this angle? I know, far away, but where?
Nice notes.
Regards

Dearest Chris,
sorry about the odd information, i always keep experimenting... this once, particularly, i made sure it was veeeery slow, due to the wind and foggy ambience that i was immersed in... some times i was able to see the Statue, some other times not! Clouds kept coming on and on, plus Southwest wind blowing on my ears...
i couldn't take the risk of loosing Christ Redeemer's Statue in the midst of all such clouds
(some dense , somewhat clearer ones)...
It was reaaaaaally cold that day too!
It just started to drop some rain on me and camera: so i layed on fence to get picture without that first border and did no PS work at all! the photo uploaded here is a result as it just comes from the camera: no light effect, no changing colours, no editting - except for re-sizing after being scanned to fit UF's Editorial recommendations.
Thanks again, for Your always encouraging Comments... i am a great fan of Your work!!!

Best,
Regina

Spectaular scene, regina ~ one I would love to see for myself one day.
You're giving us some very curious speed and aperture readings just lately and this one is particularly odd. Was this really a 1 second exposure at f1?!
Always good to read your 'about' section.
Kind regards, Chris

Steve, thanks for Your visit: Comments were built when students and i had the opportunity on Web-conferencing with You for the first time...
They all asked me to write down and express our gratitude and to make sure i let You know how much they've appreciated Your photographic world and work!!! ...too bad they can;t speak the language yet - as each one would write themselves... not me!
You are a true Master, that's a fact. *sparkle*
SpotLight's on You... and a million Thanks for having taught us soooo much and help me personally grow each day when i visit UseFilm through Your line of work.
