Hi Rog, Very good composition. The close crop is a very good choice. IMO, it emphasises the lazy and relaxing atmosphere as well as the scorching heat of the sun. Dan's comment crossed my mind... Taking a break?
I only find the contrast in the sand a bit low, as if it's a tad over exposed. Although that would fit with the scorching weather effect, It also reduces the effect of the close crop, as the gradient leads the eye away from the scene. I think a subtle frame would solve that.
