Yes,you?re right. I only want to simplify, not going further with the discussion. Because people, in general do not accept free jazz, modern erudit music and non representative paint just because music must have a tune one can sing, paint must present a thing that is in the world, with shape, color and name.I?m absolved ? I think you ,now ,understand that I?m not a newcomer.I very much much enjoy this chat, I?m ready for the next one...but only after 24 June as , next week I?ll fly to S.Paulo.
Kind regards
jorge

Yes, I do agree now that as representative of a branch, abstract is a better term. I would, however, argue against the idea that "abstract art isn't anything but abstract art." That seems to imply that it exists for its own sake and has no relationship with reality.

OK,thanks for your intervention, on basics. My picture is , in my opinion, an abstract:a branch of a tree, treated in a way only is a shape and color. If you look at you could see a rather vague shape of the branch. But, the purpose is not to show a branch, but just shape and color.I could just start up with lines and patches, at random,it then would be non representational. My picture exist because of the original tree.Never mind, just trying to prove our point and this is a good exercise.
Best regards
jorge

Actually abstract art is a form of representational art, it's just the object is being displayed for its form rather than its actual appearance, but there is still some semblance of the object. Nonrepresentational art, or nonobjective art seems to better apply to this image, and therefore your argument. It is created only for its color or its shape or its arrangement and exists independently of any actual object.

Interestind to see how many educated viewers start to describe why they like this abstract work and end up asking what it is supposed to be... Abstract art isn't supposed to be anything but abstract art folks.

I like it very much as such; well done, as usual:)
