Tippie was inherited from a friend who passed away a couple of summers ago. He is very much the "alpha", plays with the Lab, terrorizes the regal old Burmese, Shadow (former Alpha?) and leaves clumsy kittenish goof Burmese Maia alone.
A lovely shot, and like Randal Dean I also normally avoid pet shots, unless something really makes it stand out from the crowd. I think this one does - the composition and DOF are wonderful.
You asked about "Lost in Translation"? Well, lets just say that my wife and I enjoyed seeing all our favourite places on film! All those places, including that bar, are regular haunts for us. I work just a few minutes walk from the Hotel.
Thanks. The look of concentration is pure luck. Even though I favour old mechanical cameras, I'm told I'm the guy fast autofocus was meant for, as, by the time I'm finished checking exposure and setting settings and then focusing, it almost always is far too late.
I don't normally comment on 'pet' photos, but this one really caught my eye. I really like the colors, the whiteness of the right side of the nose against the left side of the neck--- but the main attraction is the intense look of concentration on the cat's face. I also appreciate your choice of camera and lens, no wonder you produced such a fine image.
