About This was taken at about 11 am January 29, 2003 looking south on Crystal Springs Lake Reservoir on the San Andreas fault in San Mateo. The fog was hanging over the lake, but had burned off to the east and west of the photo. I haven't figured out how to get rid of the barbed wire fence at the bottom.

Anne, my God, i'm the last one you should apologize to. Don't even feel you must thank me for a comment. i leave comments on images and expect nothing. Because my own time is so scarce i can appreciate the same about others. Good luck with your project..kat~

Kathleen --

Thanks for your comments--I appreciate the time you took to look at my portfolio. My apologies for taking so long to respond--I'm working on a project with a rapidly approaching deadline so have little time to "play" at the moment. I'm looking forward to more of your photos when I have some time.

Regards,
Anne

Kathleen --

Thank you for your generous comment. I really enjoy finding beautiful places -- it helps me to de-stress, and I love the challenge of creating a photo that captures what I find appealing about the place.

The day I took this the fog was sitting in the valley over these lakes. I live on the other side of a mountain from here, and it was sunny until I got halfway down the valley. It was a very strange morning! So still, and the sounds were muted as well. It was magical to be there and witness it.

I take it from your portfolio that you are living in Costa Rica? My neighbor's 19 year-old daughter took the year off before going to college and has spent much of her time there--she just loves it! She's talked her parents into visiting this summer before she comes back for school.

Thanks again for taking the time to look at my portfolio, and for your comment.

Regards,
Anne

John --

Thanks very much for your kind comment and for taking the time to look at my portfolio. One of the things I like best about photography is finding special places to shoot--there are many places I'd have never seen without having such a good "reason" to go looking for them.

Regards,
Anne

Hi, Anne..after reading your comments on my image, i stopped by your portfolio. Your profile is very entertaining and your images are refreshingly natural and un-glopped up. This was the one that pulled me close like a hug and made me click. It is beautiful and you shouldn't worry about the barbed wire. It is not a distraction and moreover, gives a bit of a different texture in the foreground and also helps give an idea of scale. It's amazing that this was taken at 11:00am..wow, that was some bleak gray morning, huh? The silkiness of the water and the reflection of the sky is so beautiful, the barely there land masses are suggested rahter than defined. This is all about mood and you have captured it..into my faves..kat~

My God your portfolio is amazing! It is reminiscent of how I would like mine to be, open country side shots. But I am trapped in the city. I do not think that the wires need to be removed at all, your composition is perfect!

George,

Thanks for your comment, and for removing the fence! I don't have PS, I'm using a very rudimentary program at the moment. Guess I'll need to upgrade at some point . . .

Regards,
Anne

Absolutely a fantastic shot! I love this!
I took the wire out for you.
For this, I use the rubber stamp tool
in PS. It's a very simple operation.
Great portfolio too!

Jimmy --

thanks for your comments and the welcome . . . I had a chance tonight for a brief look at your portfolio--some very beautiful work you have done. I especially liked your Evening Iris--they are one of my favorite plants and that one is just magnificent.

Warm regards,
Anne

Wondeful mood shot, Anne. If you have a photo editing program with a clone tool, you could clone that wire out of the scene.
A big welcome to Usefilm,
Jimmy
