An attempt to recreate a photo by William Eggleston, from Blind Spot issue #19. Taken at the same location a few years later. I got just about everything about it wrong, but at this point it was the best I could do.
Wow, you're right about the flag JP. I hadn't even thought of that. Like I said elsewhere, the two photos I tried to imitate don't appear to be widely shown, as far as I know never reproduced on the web. I'm just a huge fan of Mr. Eggleston, so I got the back issue Blind Spot #19 ($20 from blindspot.com) and recognized the location in Hollywood where he shot the photos about 5 years ago. (I did mine about a year ago). The main difference is that his truly are beautiful and are obviously art, with perfect framing and color, and the small disarming details that make all the difference. But then again they were his perfect creations in the first place. He still has it, and will never lose it as far as I'm concerned.
I don't know the Eggleston shot, but this is pretty sweet. Great light and coloring and subtle details. Has that flag look that he claimed all his pictures were based upon.
