it is a wonderful portrait, although I don't know if I like the V shadow on her face

Richard - it is a good point. I had a little trouble with this as it looks as if the ball is just a prop. What happened was that the ball came up the tree but then something else up the tree caught her attention...

This is interesting because there's a sort of disconnect between the obvious ball and the little girl, who's attention is elsewhere.

great B&W !!!
clarity in tones and clever composition! It is perfection.
I must admit you have a way to visualise the outcome before you shoot and combine it with perfection in technique.

Another wonderful portrait, Stefan! She's a beautiful little girl, and what an impish face! :) I like the shadows across her face showing what she's looking up at. The color version is really nice, too, with lovely skin tones, but I think the bright yellow competes too much for attention - you made a great choice going with the black and white. By the way, this really is a nicely done B&W conversion - I'm going to have to experiment with channel mixing as per your notes. Really well done!

Stefan, so sharp, nice tonal range, beautiful light on her face. I like it.

I like this one more than the previous one. The B&W, her eyes/expression, the light on her face, it's all way stronger than in the previous one. But refering to the soccer part the other one was better :)
Good job! Greets Tim.

great this little girl looking uppwords, the light , contrast , composition are all good, i'll prefer not to see the written things in the ball....!

What a classic looking portrait...timeless. The shadow on her face ought to be distracting but it's not. Really nice work.

she's darling, Stefan and she's going to so love this portrait when she gets older. It captures the skin-yer-knees stage of growing up when girls have no problem being like boys. i like the ball, the tree, and the curious, inquiring expression on her face as she looks higher..you can see her mind working as she aspires to the uppermost limbs of that tree..haha, i'll bet she keeps Dad on his toes!

let's start with this: Priceless impression...great tonal range and composition. Again what were the settings for the coversation to B&W? And she is sweeeet! Cheers! Carlheinz

Hello Telmo - I probably cannot afford two trips to Europe this summer :-) She will need some more practise first too! In late (very red) light like this I find rather surprisingly that green/blue channel mixes work well, at least for this look. This is the green layer in the base, plus a 80% or so mix of blue using "soft light". All the best! -S.

Dear Engstrom!!!!!!!!!! You're BACK!!!!!!!!
Love this photo...
Love the tones and lighting, the composition and the overall aspect!
And now is my turn to ask you: How did you made this EXCELENT b&w??? It is si rich in different grey!...
PS.: Looks like this beautiful little girl is asking you to come to Portugal to see the Soccer EURO cup 2004... If it is so.... Don't be bad to her! She seems to behave so well!
;-)))))
Hugs!
