About I've over heard a guy at work telling his friends that his wife had a girl this morning (19-April).. he was happy about it cuz in Islam, if someone had daughters, treated them & raised them right it'll be a protection for them from eternal hell..
In the Arabic gulf area before Islam (around 1500 yrs ago), people used to hate having a girl.. some used to even burry them alive. That's why when God sent Prophet Mohammed, he encouraged them to respect women and treat them equally. Women used to work, own property, teach, nurse & treat sick people with men, side by side. Wearing a veil didn't stop them from seeking knowledge and getting respect.

Dedicated to all the mistreated women all over the world...

excellent shot with creative lighting , i really like this lighting coming from behind and braking through with worm tones. excellent sympolization. About your (about) to be honest, i never felt in my life that woman is mistreated in special way. i'm talking practicaly from my serounding sociaty-family-school-nabours-friends and everyone, i see that the musilm arabian woman is somehow equal to the man in everything but in differnet ways and sometimes she is getting better treatment becuase she is a woman. that was practicaly talking for my personal exprince. But i am sure there are many many women are mistreated in many places all over the world including "untied states" as well (rape, vilance...etc). So if u r comparing between woman "these days" and woman "before 1500 years" (before Islam), then i am glad for u and for all women around. thanks

I can feel the female energy in this shot and it fills my soul this morning. I will take your story with me in my mind and give thanks that I too am a woman and that I have been chosen to raise 3 young men who respect women.

Magnificent picture,Rawabi! I read with much interest your introduction and,as I travel quite a lot in Islamic Countries, I fully agree.
What you have stated is indeed written in the Coran, but for some reasons, there are still many persons who misunderstand it and treat daughters like a disgrace and later, as wives, like a simple property at their complete disposal and will.
Yes,dedicated to all the mistreated women around the world...I'm with you!!!
Hugs, Antonella

A beautiful celebration of who you are Rawabi! It's lovely! Your "about" was very interesting as well. I'm glad to hear that women are treated better in Islam now. I believe all people were created equal by our Creator and equally loved by Him. And all are due respect, no matter what gender, nationality or religion! Thanks for sharing!

So beautiful photo with amazing light and wonderful artistic composition, I love it! Interesting reading your text too!

Very very long time ago, in Sweden, they used to put unwanted babies out in the forest to let them die or be eaten up by wild animals. I can't understand... If we forget time now, or religion, and everything... only concentrate on having a child... HOW can a parent chose to kill it's own flesh and blood? No matter what gender. I think instinctivly we would/should keep and protect our offsprings even if it's born with just a head and no arms and legs.
