This is a shot with great potential. it has some lovely and moody lighting, and is nicely observed. It echoes pictures of kids who want to go and play outside but can't. It's almost as if the fern indoors wants to go and play with that tall tree outside.
There are a couple of things that I notice, though:
1. You took this shot with the lens wide open at f/1.4. I'm guessing here that you did not have or did not want to use a tripod. This is a real shame, as the DOF is much too shallow and the main subject (the fern) looks a bit too soft. It would be nice to get everything in the window-sill to be in focus and sharp. Maybe you could have rested the camera on a cushion, and used a smaller aperture (f/5.6 or f/8) with a longer exposure.
2. On the JPEG you uploaded, there is a lot of noise in the black areas and they look faded. I don't know how you got the image scanned (negative scan or print scan?) but you need to do some adjustments in Photoshop or whatever image editor you use. The levels need to be adjusted so that the blacks are totally black. I have attached one where I have done this, as an example.
To really finesse it, perhaps a little light reflecting back on to the plant (by using a mirror or a sheet of white paper?) would be a nice touch.
I is still a nice and moody image, which I do like.
