Beautiful medieval village in Belgium, also known as "Venice of the north" and "Fake medieval city". In its hay days, Brughes was very rich and and place to be for the great and the good. Suddenly, the sea deserted Brughes due to low tide and the harbour became useless. That was the death knell for the city. However, Bruhes is making a come back to limelight by tourism. 15th century archetecture is well preserved with its canal winding through the town. The city is named as herritage town by the UNESCO. Wonderful place for a short weekend break.
